Alessa's Germany Experience, Day 30 - Ketamine Booster
Alessa had her first ketamine booster today. She was infused through an I.V. line in the back of her left hand for four hours. Even though Alessa is completely pain free, she is not cured. Unfortunately, RSD/CRPS is not a curable disease at this time. However, the ketamine coma is as close to a cure as you can get!
She is due for her next booster 40 days from now. She'll have that booster in Dr. Schwartzman's infusion suite in Philadelphia. She'll have regular monthly boosters for the next six months. If she continues to be pain free and symptom free after the six months, she will then be considered to be in remission.
Luckily for us, we live in Philadelphia. Dr. Schwartzman's patients come from all over the country for ketamine boosters.
After today's booster, Alessa needed to rest as the infusion is very draining. Her spirits are good and she's very, very happy not to be in any pain. In fact, this is the first day that I asked her what her pain level was on a pain scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst pain. Her answer for the first time in years is ZERO!!!! How wonderful is that? Thank you, Jesus!

I’m so happy for you all and can’t wait for you to return back home to Philly. Our sports teams have been doing so great although I’m sure you don’t miss paying the high gas prices. I spoke with Dr. Kirkpatrick today and he gave me a lot of information and stuff to review. I have a big decision ahead of me. I hope I can be as strong and brave as Alessa. I do know that RSD/CRPS is a terrible disease and no one should have to live with the pain it causes.
Keep up the great work and positive thoughts. You are an inspiration for me!

Hi Alessa and Family!
I am so happy to hear Alessa is pain free! What answered prayer! You have fought long and hard for this and you deserve it! You never gave up when I am sure their were times where you felt like it! Great job! And I completely agree! Though ketamine is not a cure I truly believe it is an amazing option for all of us RSDers and gives us such hope for the future and also opens so many opportunities! How exciting! I also believe with the Dr. S, the docs in Germany. Mexico, US, and all of us together, we can and will find a cure! Strength in numbers right? :)
Love ya guys!
