Alessa's Germany Experience, Day 25 - No Appetite

Alessa continues to improve. However, she has no appetite, which is a side effect of ketamine. She knew that before going into the hospital and she was looking forward to losing some weight. We keep trying to get her to eat a little bit, though. It's to the point that she knows what I'm going to say before I say it and she just says, "NO!". Her fluid intake has improved a little.

She's getting strong
er as each day goes by. She's able to sit up now on her own. She's doing better transferring from the bed to the wheelchair with the nurse's help. With all these daily improvements, she should be ready for physical therapy, which is set to begin on Monday.

Since she has a room to herself, I've been staying overnight with her. We lay in ours beds switching from CNN to MTV and b
ack. These are the only two channels in English. We go from the serious to the silly and we laugh a lot. She's not up to watching movies on her DVD player yet. However, this morning, she asked for her book, "A Brave New World". That's a really big step because she hasn't been able to concentrate enough to read a book in over four years.
