Alessa's Germany Experience, Day 12 - Repositioning
Alessa is repositioned every two hours around the clock! This is to prevent bed sores. She's not only moved, the bed is also moved. Sometimes the head of the bed is higher than the foot of the bed. At other times, it's the other way around. Padding is also placed under different parts of her body at different times in order to reposition her in different ways. Her sheets are also changed each day or more, if necessary. All the work that is involved is amazing!
She is being fed a multi-fiber nutrition pack through a feeding tube in her nose. I counted an assortment of 14 different bags, bottles and various monitors that are hooked up to her. During the two hours that we were allowed to visit, the nurse came in several times to check on Alessa and to make any changes to the monitors as needed.
We were able to leave knowing that she is being given the best of care.
