Alessa's Germany Experience, Day 3 - Arrival in Germany

We arrived in Frankfurt at about 5:50 a.m., which was close to midnight in Philly. Lufthansa provided a very nice young man to assist us through the airport in Germany. He helped us with everything. We didn't have to worry about the language barrier because he spoke English and most things in the airport were written in English. He stayed with us right up to the moment that we met our driver. We recognized our driver because he held up a sign that said "Abruzzo Family".

A friend in Germany arranged our transportation from the airport to the hotel, which was a two hour ride. (Alessa needed a wheelchair accessible vehicle.) The ride was very nice. Our driver and his companion spoke very little English. It didn't matter, though, because they knew what we needed and where we were going.

Our friend met us at the hotel to help us with the check in procedure. Once we were checked in, he helped Steve rent a car. Steve got a Smart Car!! It's the smallest car we've ever seen, but it's so roomy inside. It's a two-seater that is very good on gas and you can park it just about anywhere.

Our hotel is very nice. We are extremely pleased. Everything is clean, shiny. and top of the line. Alessa's room is across the hall from ours. She has a great view of the lake and the park surrounding it.
