Alessa's Germany Experience, Day 2 - MRI
Alessa went for the functional MRI of the brain in Belmont, MA. We had a wonderful driver who picked us up at 6 a.m. We couldn't believe that Alessa was able to go through the test due to how bad she was the previous night. She woke up being able to move from the waist up. We arrived at the hospital at 6:40 a.m. and we were there until 11:30 a.m. She said that the test was very painful for her, but she wanted to do it so that other RSD patients could be helped. The test consisted of extreme hot and cold sensations, rough touch using velcro and vibration. All of this is horrible for an RSD patient. It makes the pain so much worse. She made it through everything, but the last three minutes of the vibrating part of the test. The staff said that she did really well.
We arrived back at the hotel around 12:30 and we put Alessa back to bed. The hotel was extremely considerate and kind in letting us have a 3:45 check out. A very nice man from the Massachusetts Port Authority came to the hotel to meet Alessa. He arranged for the late check out time. He also arranged for a shuttle to take Alessa to the Lufthansa terminal and he stayed with us until we got on the plane.
The TSAs both in Philly and Boston were wonderful. Alessa got curb to terminal assistance. She didn't get bumped at all along the way. Everyone was so kind and caring.
We flew Lufthansa from Boston to Frankfurt, Germany at 5:50 p.m. The flight was great. Alessa enjoyed the whole experience.
